New Year

Meaning

New Year marks the first day of the First Month. It begins the civil calendar year and falls under the Rising Phoenix, the zodiac reserved for this single day.

Origin

Modern years are counted from the Cataclysm, which occurred on this date in Year 0 AC and ended the Age of the Empire. New Year therefore marks both a calendrical beginning and the anniversary of the event that began recorded modern history.

Observance and Traditions

The date is recognized across Thelemar as the boundary between years. Particular ceremonies, celebrations, and interpretations vary by culture and have not yet been documented here.

Regional Variations

Regional traditions remain to be recorded.
