The Lyre of Building is one of the most powerful relics to survive the fall of the Empire - likely one of several in its day, but the only one known to have endured The Collapse. A magnificent instrument, gem-set and worked in gold and silver, it sounds (by every account) exquisitely sweet.

In skilled hands its music raises enormous structures - an hour at the Lyre is said to accomplish what a hundred diligent laborers could manage in a week. Its keepers have always hidden it, but its passage through the world can be traced by the wondrous buildings that appear in impossibly short time or with unnatural artistry. Among such places are the Ice Kiln, the holy city of Difloa, the Storm Tower on the southern coast of Clairnia, and, most recently, the great university of GUNAM in Jaknia.
