The Einherjar
The einherjar are the most honoured warriors of the Lexalian Republic - heroes raised up for some great deed of valour, and rarer than long summers in the mountains. An einherjar bears a medal of bravery embedded in their armour, and commands a respect that crosses the bounds of rank; the young Armand Folstak, made einherjar for his deeds at Rumble Creek, was the youngest in the Republic’s history, set in charge of warriors twice his age.
The honour carries a heavy end. An einherjar is held to serve, in time, a Final Duty - and may invoke the Right of Substitution to take that duty, or another’s sentence, upon themselves.
