The Smelting

The Smelting is a great event of the deep past, some 630 years gone, that left its mark on the law and memory of the Lexalian Republic. It is reckoned the benchmark of the Final Duty: in all the 630 years since the Smelting, no one is recorded to have survived that fatal sentence.
