Firanne

Firanne is a young human wizard and, by all accounts, the most devoted dragon-scholar of the Scribes of Ibis.

Description

Personality

Outwardly a shy, bookish scholar of quiet excellence. She is restless with the mundane but lights up at anything grand, magnificent, larger than life - drawn, to her own surprise, to strength and confidence in every form. Her colleagues believe her merely the most dedicated dragon researcher in the Scribes; only she knows how personal that dedication has become.

Biography

As a child, Firanne’s town was battered by a terrible storm. It was saved not by a dragon’s mercy but by its example: a Resolve Dragon descended amid the rising floodwaters and, rather than cradling the people, challenged them to raise their own defences and endure - and they did. The dignity, power, and wonder of that day branded itself into her like a gentle mark, and she carried it into a life of careful study, earning her degree in wizardry before joining the Scribes of Ibis.

As she grew, her tastes… evolved. Eventually her studies circled back to dragons, and what began as innocent research curdled into something she only rarely admits aloud. “I want to fuck a dragon,” she confessed to her friend Summer one day, needing to unburden herself to anyone.

The truth mortifies her. She gets genuinely, embarrassingly giddy around anything draconic - she once giggled when a dragonborn colleague rolled his R’s through an ancient incantation, and has to excuse herself, blushing furiously, from any lecture that lingers on dragon hoards. She owns seventeen books on dragon anatomy “for academic completeness,” has memorised the mating calls of six dragon species “to better understand draconic linguistics,” and once spent three weeks perfecting a treatise on “Optimal Diplomatic Protocols for First Contact with Ancient Dragons” - complete with footnotes on etiquette, gift-giving, and respectful approach distances - only to burn it in horror partway through a section on “establishing mutual trust and rapport.” She has, in idle moments, calculated the theoretical wingspan-to-bed-size ratio needed for comfortable cohabitation, and practised signing her name with invented dragon surnames in the margins of her notes.

For all its absurdity, what her heart wants is to be swept off her feet - literally, preferably mid-flight - by something magnificent enough to make her feel like that awestruck child again. She knows full well it could incinerate her with a casual exhale, which, she’ll admit, only makes it worse.
