Doll of Voo-Doo

The Doll of Voo-Doo is a small figure of woven straw shaped like a person. By the stories, a single drop of someone’s blood and a particular rite forge a magical bond between doll and victim - and thereafter, whatever is done to the doll is done to the person. It is thought to be an ancient Imperial instrument of torture, and legend places it in the torture cellars of the Three Knives in Clairnia.

Its maker is disputed: some say an ancient, fearsome hag named Voo-Doo; others that “Voo-Doo” was the name of the Empire’s whole apparatus of imprisonment and torture. The latter is the likelier, for there is little evidence that hags even existed in Imperial times - the leading theories (see Ornok Denil’s *Mirror or Looking Glass*, Thorna Majil’s *Shades of Shades*, and their joint *Impossible Colors*) hold that hags arose only with the Feywyld after The Collapse.
