The Smoking Mirror is, by the stories, a glossy black glass framed in solid smoke, a single piece the height of a person. There is broad agreement that it predates the Empire, though its true origin is unknown.

Its power is scrying of extraordinary reach: it lets the user behold any place in any universe, even one they have never seen or heard of. It is thought to rest now in the Watchtower of Clairnia, in the keeping of the School of Divination.
