Bonias Dyne
Bonias Dyne
Bonias Dyne was a young, charismatic noble and mage of Clairnia - and the unlikely heart of Raven’s story. He first enters history as the target of her assassination: she was sent to kill him and failed, and from that failure grew a bond between them, most likely romantic, that drew Raven away from her monastery.
When Raven later set out to stop Ismareldor, Bonias stood with her as both nobleman and spellcaster. It was he who finally found the elusive Crimson Knight: over a full day in the Watchtower he worked more than fifty scrying orbs - by some accounts the legendary Smoking Mirror - and lost both his hands for good in the attempt.
At the plains of Pelgarath, in the climactic battle, it was Bonias - not Raven, as the legends say - who disrupted Ismareldor’s ritual, opening the gate that ended the Crimson Knight. He gave his own life to do it. Faint evidence suggests Raven afterward bore his child.
