Phandal of Tehn is a much-degreed scholar - Ancient Cryptomancy was the dissertation for his fourth doctorate - who studies why magic must be written in particular forms.

Work

His treatise explores the relationship of ancient hieroglyphics, runes, sigils, and Draconic to the magical fonts in which spells must be inscribed, arguing the case for why a spell must take such a written form - and tracing the varied origins of each system of magical symbols. It stands among the foundational works on the writing of magic.
