Warren Hollow

Warren Hollow is a noble of House Hollow of Clairnia, whose sigil is a tree. One day a raven pecked out his eyes - and through the telepathic bond that followed, the bird revealed that it was in truth a monk, transformed into raven-shape by a powerful sorcerer. The monk needs help to find the one who did this and to return to his true form; Warren, having learned much about himself along the way, chose to help.

Blind ever since, Warren has learned to see through his bond with the raven, Hern - though to strangers he passes the bird off as nothing more than an ordinary raven, no familiar of his. He travels as a guarded, sardonic swordsman who fights with two blades and feels his way with a thin cane, favouring a corner table with his back to the wall and a rolling laugh for any who pry too far. Widely travelled, he carries a sword-bearer’s wry scorn for mages - “you spellcasters always have an answer, except when you’re toppling empires or putting demons into people’s bodies; then it falls to those with swords to find the answers.”

At the contest for the Ring of Unshackled Desire he lodges among the competitors in the City of Raven - and, well travelled as he is, he had never once heard the name of its mayor, Jamran Blidword: one more crack in that man’s supposed fame.

  • Personality: honest, optimistic, silly.
  • Ideal: There is no failure, only bumps in the road.
  • Bond: I want to help the monk get his body back.
  • Flaw: I sometimes take things too lightly.
