Asandrea is remembered as courageous, incorruptible, and self-sacrificing. Bardic tradition describes a young priestess whose eyes were always turned toward the future, who inspired warriors, moved multitudes, and became the last thread on which Loreshia’s hope hung.
Biography
Asandrea was a priestess of Loreshia during the first Fiend Flood, which began in 731 AC. Historical accounts name her as the daughter of Brangien, while bardic tradition calls her mother Bryngwen.
According to the histories, Asandrea alone among Loreshia’s defenders was immune to the fiends’ corruption. She emerged as the leader of the resistance, rallied the surviving armies, and commanded nature itself against the invaders. So grave a threat did she become that the Archfiends intervened personally to assassinate her.
The grief caused by Asandrea’s death is said to have summoned the gods back into the physical world. The gods used their returned power to imprison the fiends once more, saving the world even as Loreshia collapsed. In legend, Asandrea’s sacrifice gave the survivors the will to continue and ended the first Fiend Flood.
Another tradition holds that Asandrea wore the Mask of Asandrea to reach and assassinate all nine original Apostles of Opposition, turning a fiendish artifact against its makers.

As Loreshia’s government collapsed and fiends slaughtered its people, the rulers of Mictlān empowered mortal Apostles to extend their influence across the world. Asandrea concluded that other nations would soon fall in turn unless those agents were stopped.
She deceived Mara, offering to become his Apostle and claiming that she would infiltrate other nations and destroy them from within. The fiends accepted her service but did not trust her. Rather than grant power directly, they gave her the sentient Mask of Asandrea, whose consciousness could read her thoughts and was intended to prevent her betrayal.
Asandrea had anticipated such a safeguard. After donning the mask, she spent months arguing with it until she persuaded it that the fiends were evil. The mask then became the precise weapon she had sought: its protection concealed her plans from the other Apostles, while its transformations let her approach them in disguise, assassinate them, impersonate them, and sabotage their operations.
Together, Asandrea and the mask killed seven of the historical Apostles active during the first Fiend Flood. These deaths severely disrupted the fiends’ plans and bought time for the gods to intervene.
