Atraxias was a fearless, battle-hardened commander who first made his name on the rebel side of Mekarto’s civil war. Jailed in the bedrock Prison Citadel of Kios after the rebellion’s defeat, he was later pardoned and recruited by Mithradaitis VI, who recognized both his talent and his fundamental integrity despite their old enmity.

Proud to the bone, Atraxias found the very idea of surrender unbearable. As the Lexallian siege closed around Kios, his voice always rose against any talk of capitulation or compromise, forever demanding more aggressive tactics over the war-table. In the city’s final, desperate days he is said to have pored over forbidden and demonological texts in the Temple of Knowledge, searching for any weapon that might save the doomed capital.
