Ostagar Worldshaper

Ostagar Worldshaper - born Ostagar Sveld - was the great commander of the Lexallian Republic, the conqueror whose campaigns reshaped the map of the world and brought down the three-hundred-year kingdom of Swadia. Chosen Skati of the Republic in 1267, he won the bard-name Worldshaper in 1293 for the sheer scale of his conquests.

The Lexallian Campaign

When the Republic launched its great campaign of conquest in 1268, it was Ostagar’s armies - disciplined, numerous, and stiffened with skilled battle-mages - that carried it forward. In 1275 he invaded Swadia; though its army was strong and forewarned, thirty years of civil war had weakened it, and the Lexallians won battle after battle. The northern city of Raven fell almost at once, and the road carved south from it has been called “the Road of Swords” - or Worldshaper’s Way - ever since. By 1278 he had taken the Jyoti lead mines, turning Swadia’s own wealth against it, and pressed on until only besieged Kios itself remained. Kios broke in 1300, and Swadia fell with it. Ostagar then turned upon the Theocracy of Olympus - but there, in 1340, he was slain in battle by Ma’ar, the great fiend of the House of Horrors, an end that closed both the Olympian and Worldshaper Wars.

It is rumored that before beginning his campaigns of world conquest, Ostagar consulted one of the oracle pillars - the flard Sky-Breaker, in the Aegheimer Mountains.
