Patacon is the southern city of Clairnia - renowned for its picturesque canals, grand architecture, and busy docks, and a culture steeped in commerce and romance. It is the kingdom’s centre of sea trade and the ancestral fief of House Cartos.

Patacon is best known across Thelemar for its yearly Mask Carnival, a seven-day midsummer masquerade in which the rigid hierarchy of Clairnian society dissolves behind a sea of masks.

Beneath the revelry, that universal masking has been turned to darker ends: the secret society known as The Complex - most of its members changelings - has used the carnival to cover the abduction of victims for rituals of its own.
