Arcadia

Arcadia is a settlement and surrounding territory located in the New World - across the ocean, long the stuff of rumour among the monks of the Frigid Straits and the seers who could not explain their visions. Arcadia serves as a central anchor in a continent whose existence was the heart of the archaeologist Corian Ballard’s ridiculed New World Theory: that other mortal species, with whole cultures and powers never imagined, dwell on the far side of the sea (see the races of the New World). The theory was vindicated when the anthropologist Yendal Applewhistle crossed the ocean, found Arcadia and its surroundings true, and chose to stay - drawing Corian to sail from Teremisis to Arcadia in 1541.
