The New World Theory

The New World Theory is the great work of the archaeologist Corian Ballard - the claim that other mortal species dwell on the far side of the ocean, in the land of Arcadia, with whole cultures and capabilities never imagined by the peoples of the old world.

Corian built the theory from sightings gathered from the monks who live near the frigid straits, from seers who could not explain their visions, and from the counsel of wizards studying the appearance of the twisted races. When he laid it out in his dissertation, every academic circle ridiculed it as “unsubstantiated, unlikely, and quite frankly - ridiculous.” It was vindicated only years later, when the anthropologist Yendal Applewhistle crossed the ocean herself and found it true (see the races of the New World).
