The Octopus answers to Poseidon. Its Theocracian name, Scylla, recalls the legend of a beautiful naiad whom Poseidon claimed - until a jealous Amphitrite poisoned the spring where Scylla bathed, twisting her into the fearsome monster that terrorized any ship that dared sail too close.
