Peacock is the regular sign of the fifth month.

Those born under the Peacock are perfectionists, renowned for their attention to detail - so much so that they can find patterns where none exist. They can be finicky, and critical to a fault.

Particular though they are, that does not always mean tidy: their habits rarely line up with conventional notions of cleanliness, and a Peacock might live in what looks like a dust-storm ruin while still enforcing a strict “no shoes in the house.” The space may look cluttered, but they know where everything is - everything has its place. They prefer order, yet put service to others above their own comfort, often so busy mending the lives of those around them that they neglect their own needs, rarely moved by self-interest.

They are intelligent, but their introverted nature can make them hard to read; talking with a Peacock can feel like drifting on the surface, never quite knowing what they think or feel beneath. Their emphasis on thought and idea can seem to mask a lack of emotional depth, but in truth they are a fortress unto themselves - endlessly accepting of whatever you share, yet rarely volunteering a similar excavation of their own heart. They come across as far more rational than they are; their feelings are a mystery even to them, felt deeply but seldom spoken, and the only way they can voice the ineffable is through dry sarcasm.

Among the Tengu the Peacock is called the Storm Trio; those born under it follow rules of their own and are often somewhat strange, yet powerful and sharp.
