Notable Spells of Thelemar
Many of Thelemar’s spells bear the names of those who first wrought them - renowned spellwrights whose discoveries outlived them, and even a pair of dragons whose magic passed into mortal hands. The catalogue below gathers the most storied of these named workings. (Their precise mechanics live in the spell rules; here they are remembered for who made them and what they do.)
Spells of the Named Mages
| Spell | Level | Maker | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lightningold’s Golden Lightning | 7 | Gale Lightningold | Summons crackling golden electricity |
| Hakai’s Devastation | 2 | Hakai | Looses a catastrophic resonance of thunder |
| Mauran’s Ball of Light | 9 | Mauran Magefather | A radiant orb that heals, harms, and illuminates |
| Fearheart’s Orb of Darkness | 9 | Magna Um Fearheart | A void sphere that drains, terrifies, and shrouds - the dark twin of the Ball of Light |
| Fearheart’s Burning Blood | 4 | Magna Um Fearheart | Ignites the exposed blood of the wounded |
| Fearheart’s Grasp of Death | 9 | Magna Um Fearheart | A killing necromancy whose slain rise as shade-servants |
| Olo’s Mirror of Memories | 8 | Olo the Bard | Locks caster and target together, reliving each other’s memories |
| Andrui’s Baneful Backfire | 5 | Andrui | Shields a magic’s properties against dispelling |
| Essonoz’s Minor Runes | 4 | Essonoz | Inscribes utility runes - recall, shielding, flight, and more |
| Annabel’s Supervised Spacetime Fracture | 3 | Annabel | Tears a rift in spacetime, casting a creature into the near future |
| Leomund’s Tiny Hut | 3 | Leomund | A classic warded shelter of the old codices |
Mauran’s Ball of Light and Fearheart’s Orb of Darkness are openly remembered as counterparts - light and dark, healing and draining - the work of the father of wizardry and the god of liches who is said to have slain him.
Spells of the Dragons
Two of the most fearsome and most beautiful spells in the world are credited not to mortals but to dragons - opposite poles of the Fear and Safety cosmology:
| Spell | Level | Maker | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kurai Shi’s Blackening Death | 8 | Kurai Shi, the End Dragon of the Last Silence | Withers a victim with overwhelming necrotic death |
| Tasukeru’s Shield of Dawn | 9 | Tasukeru, the Dawn Dragon and Warden of the First Light | Wraps a whole company in sweeping protection |
That a Fear Dragon should author a spell of death and a Safety Dragon a spell of protection is, to Thelemar’s scholars, a small mirror of the dragons’ eternal duality.
