Mauran Magefather

Mauran Magefather is remembered as the father of wizardry - the first to rediscover the arcane arts after The Collapse stole the old, effortless magic of the Empire from the world.

Biography

Mauran was no born prodigy but a travelling spice merchant. Inspired by a wandering bard he met upon the road, he set out to understand magic to its fullest - and, through sheer intelligence and dedication, cracked the way to cast spells by study and will alone, where once words had simply shaped the world. From his work descend the wizards of Thelemar, who learn magic as a craft rather than receive it as a gift.

Signature Magic

His masterwork is *Mauran’s Ball of Light*, hailed as the epitome of a true wizard’s versatility: a radiant orb that can heal, harm, and illuminate in turn, embodying the wisdom and might of its maker.

Death

The spell-rolls name Mauran as the victim of Magna Um Fearheart, the first lich - and Fearheart’s Orb of Darkness is remembered as the deliberate dark counterpart to Mauran’s Ball of Light, light answered with void.
