Anigma

Anigma is a goblin trickster and trapsmith of Gilded Requiem - bubbly and quick-witted on the surface, with a keen intellect and a hard-won moral compass beneath.

Biography

Born parentless in the criminal warren of Daggerwatch - a city held in the iron grip of four great crime families (the Council of Dawn, the Crystal Vipers, the Children of Moros, and the Erinyes) - the goblin child Neexa was taken in by street orphans, who misspelled her into “Anigma” for her knack of outwitting wilier thugs. Watching needless cruelty in those years set her resolve: her quick hands and quicker wits would serve survival, never wanton cruelty.

At five she was seized by slavers and carried to Kepostheon, where, after a miserable stint with a wealthy family, fortune turned: she was bought by a kind woman of the Goldenpaw Haven, the famous orphanage run by the retired paladins Alicia and Thula and their pack of gifted dogs. There, surrounded for the first time by love and plenty, her inventive nature flowered into harmless, delightful contraptions.

Grown, and aware how few doors the world opens for goblins, she set out to join a mercenary band - and was recaptured by slavers, who proved to be servants of Tamamo, able to find her however she fled. She was freed when freedom-fighters ambushed the caravan, among them a half-ogre woman “larger than life,” Augrot, who broke open her cage and offered her a place. The two became inseparable sisters, and in time found their home with Dalil and Gilded Requiem.
