Augrot Silvermane - “Augie” - is a half-ogre sorcerer of Gilded Requiem, a champion of the downtrodden who has spent her life wrestling with the weight of a heroic legacy and the question of whether she is good enough.
Biography
Augrot was born to half-ogre laborers in the poorest quarter of Oasis, the capital of Jaknia - warmed by her family’s love and chilled by the cold stares of a city that feared her kind. From childhood she was raised on the legend of Yaroub Silvermane, her ancestor, one of the original Fiend Hunters and a half-ogre hero famous even on the streets. When a crowd of jeering boys pushed her too far one market day, her latent power erupted and scattered them - proof, to her hopeful parents, that she was destined for greatness, a living symbol that half-ogres deserved dignity. They labored to give her teachers, and with their hopes settled a heavy weight on her shoulders.
Outwardly bold and confident, inwardly never sure, Augrot left home as a young woman to find her own freedom and to show the world half-ogres could be more. She wandered far, joining causes and adventuring bands, doing deeds great and small - helping the downtrodden, freeing the captive, standing with the just. Some twenty years ago she saved a clever goblin named Anigma from cultist slavers and offered her a place at her side; the two became sisters in all but blood. In time the pair found their way to Dalil and Gilded Requiem, and made it their new family.
Over the years Augrot has softened and grown to accept herself, content now to be a valued member rather than to seek the limelight. She remains devoted to her ideals of justice and equality, dreaming of a world where people are judged by their deeds rather than their blood - and where young half-ogres will never endure what she did.
