Culture
Language
Goblins speak Common and Gob, the honorific-bound goblinoid tongue. In other respects they follow the conventions of goblins in the wider world.
Servitude in Jaknia
In the Jaknian Conglomerate, the country of merchants, goblins are widely treated as chattel. There they are told that theirs is a race born to serve, and to live only to serve - a cruel rationalisation that twists the goblinoids’ fiend-made reputation into a licence for slavery. Whole goblin communities have been stripped of their livelihoods and put to forced labour at the whim of the landowners who, by Jaknian law, own the very ground they live on and every soul upon it.
History
Origins
The goblinoids of Thelemar are believed to have been created by three Arch-Fiends of Mictlān, in an attempt to gain a foothold in the prime material plane. Unlike gnolls and tieflings, whose tragic origins can be readily verified, the goblinoids’ story is no clear-cut thing: some choose to worship their so-called makers, while others despise the very notion of being created by fiends and seek instead to integrate into society. Goblins are said to be the work of Tamamo, the Vile Corruptor.
