Ann O Calabas is an eleven-year-old savant who functions as a Gear Mage. She can cast fabricate without material components and complete the spell in six seconds. Ann ran away from her family to stop serving them, stealing an Imperial Guardian she calls Eddie as she fled.
Ann never intended to reach Kios. While being pursued, she accidentally entered the Moving Hills and emerged in the city sooner than planned. She has been unable to find a route back through the hills and refuses to risk crossing the surrounding swamp.
