Dranan Horbit is a young paladin of Forseti, the only son of a noble family of Coldheart - his father a paladin-knight of the church. A lonely but gentle child with a deep love of nature, he was shaped by his diplomacy tutor, the wise old elf Astel Quori, into a believer that justice, truth, and honor are universal.

He took his oath at eighteen and rode out to guard a mountain caravan - only for it to be ambushed in a snowstorm and its people taken captive. Tracking the raiders to the very caves where a necromancer his father had once slain had hidden, Dranan fought through to a ritual chamber of caged prisoners. Exhausted, he was struck down; his blood spilled across the ritual’s symbols and completed it, killing everyone in the room and healing his own wounds. Ever since, a beautiful voice like a violin sings at the edge of his mind.

Unable to face his father, he wanders to atone for what his blood wrought.
