The Raza
The Raza
Type Mercenary band (airship crew) Era c. 1541 Leader Phirse Jeet Vessel The airship Raza Creed No mercy, no remorse, no qualms
The Raza is a ruthless mercenary band that operates across the old world of Thelemar around 1541 - nearly as infamous as the Gilded Requiem is famous. They always get the job done, never show mercy, and hold no moral scruple: they murder, cheat, enslave, burn villages, and abduct children if the pay is good.
Rumors and Truth
Wild rumors trail the band - that they are an almost-extinct race of blue mind-controllers, half-dragons of dark ritual, or ancient heroes like Raven and Olander raised by a necromancer. The truth is stranger: the Raza is the name of a ship - a rare surviving airship of the fallen Empire, one of perhaps five ever documented. It was found in the black desert by the band’s enigmatic leader, Phirse Jeet (old-Common for “wins each time”), who is said to have been born beyond the desert in the very Heart of the Empire and survived it.
The Crew
- Phirse Jeet - leader; a nomad of the Heart of the Empire who stole a ship and fled the eye of magic to live rather than merely survive; ruthless, decisive, a formidable spellcaster.
- Juen May - her number two; a killer of preternatural perception who reads heartbeats and the smallest tells, trained by the Kazuko Mei crime family.
- Octavius Katro - a descathi researcher who fled his own trial over the Girl in the Volcano project; author of the derided treatise The Cycle of Ages.
- Arthur Chase - weapons-master and manipulator of gravity; born Andrew Morgasten Welfsore, and the most wanted criminal in Difloa for public urination in the Fountain of the Gods.
- Mikase Shirkan - former head of the Clairnian Royal Guard, ousted after the rise of King Meltor; she cut down ten guards on her escape.
- Kal Varric - recently deceased; a bugbear said to have been raised by wolves.
