Filantrophia - Filli - is a cleric of the Three Charities (Aglaea, Euphrosyne, and Thalia) in The Merry Bunch, raised to give endlessly to others and now learning, at last, to want things for herself.
Biography
Given to the faith on the day she was born, Filli never knew her true family. She prefers to imagine them as devout people who cared so deeply for others that they donated their daughter to bring happiness to the world. She grew up in the temple of the Charities in Kepostheon, with food, clothing, caretakers, and peers trained to put everyone else’s needs before their own. She learned that her own needs were a mortal coil to shed and that personal happiness was, at best, a byproduct of divine duty. She was never miserable, only never truly happy, and began to wonder whether some selfishness was necessary for happiness.
When the Merry Bunch - and especially Boti - asked what she wanted, nobody had ever asked her before. Filli realized that she wanted to see the world, have fun, and laugh. She joined the party despite her fear that doing so betrayed her faith, only to find that the Three Charities did not strike her down and instead felt closer than ever when she finally cared for herself.
Appearance and Relationships
Filli has brown skin and blue-platinum hair. She serves as the group’s alternate leader and Aldor’s counterpart. Boti is a maternal figure to her, while she and Nessa regard one another like close sisters. Tikal openly admires her and often appeals to her judgment when Aldor becomes overprotective.
