Kimyo the Seeker

Description

Physical Appearance

Tall - he towered over his mother by the time he was seventeen - and marked by his half-dragon blood.

Personality

Driven, above all else, by an unquenchable hunger for knowledge - to him, knowledge gained outweighs anything lost, and even learning how to kill is “knowledge gained.” He bears little rage or animosity; only the old emptiness that knowledge alone can fill.

Biography

Kimyo, called the Seeker, is a half-dragon scholar. Born in 1465 under the sign of the Cat, he was raised in seclusion in a great four-storey mansion in the woods by his mother - a sorceress who could call lightning from the sky and fire from her hands, and who forbade him the locked library and the world beyond the walls. His father he never knew; in time he understood the man had been a dragon.

When bandits came, his mother fell to a stray, poisoned arrow, and Kimyo - alone in the world - at last broke into the forbidden library, reading it cover to cover over two years before setting out into the world. He came at last to the great university of GUNAM, where he studied and wrote for twenty years (1490–1510). He was there the night the Girl of the Volcano was born and destroyed GUNAM - the night the War of Horrors began.

For years afterward he hunted down the bandits who killed his mother, one by one, asking each the same question - why did she have to die? A few told him the raid had been commissioned by a certain high lord of Clairnia, but he chose not to pursue it, turning back instead to his books.
