Burg
Burg
Type Port city Country The Jaknian Conglomerate (near the Clairnia border) Owner Arkt Setting The shore of the Golden Bay
Burg is a coastal port city of the Jaknian Conglomerate, lying near the border with Clairnia on the palm-lined shore of the Golden Bay. Like much in Jaknia, the country of merchants, Burg is privately owned - it belongs to the elf Arkt, who by the law of the land holds not only the city but the small fishing village on its outskirts and everyone who lives there.
Ownership & the Goblin Trade
When Arkt judged that fishing had ceased to be profitable - and that the city wanted for no food - he decided that the “goblinpower” of the village was better spent on manual labour, and so put its people to forced servitude, breaking apart families at a word. It was from one such family that the goblin Tolin was taken; her flight, and the killing that preceded it, are remembered as a stain Arkt is said to mean to avenge.
The Harbour
Burg’s quays are worked by merchant shipping, and its rougher waters draw the rougher sort of trade - merchant vessels are now and then the target of robbery off its shore. It was during one such robbery that the thief Ertaga was taken, to meet a grim end in a sorcerer’s hands.
Notable Events
Burg was chosen by the judge Bare Formidler and the seer Vita as the end-point of their separate searches for their lost son.
