The Cat Feud

The Tabaxi–Clairnian Wars - derisively called “the Cat Feud” in some Clairnian territories - were two separate wars fought between the Tabaxi tribes and the Clairnian noble houses of Smilo, Gerberant, and Cultris. Across both conflicts the fighting spanned roughly fifteen years, and both wars ended in the houses’ defeat - though at the cost of devastatingly heavy Tabaxi casualties.

The First War

The first war broke out in 1493, pitting the three noble houses against the Tabaxi tribes. It ended in 1498 with the houses beaten back, but the Tabaxi paid dearly for the victory.

The Second War

The second war began in 1503. Its turning point came when the Tabaxi war-leader Flow of the River turned herself and two of her generals into Horrors to fight fire with fire, fusing herself with fiendish power to match the weapons arrayed against her tribes. The birth of three Tabaxi Horrors drew Clairnia itself into a wider coalition against them. The war ended in 1506, once more in the houses’ defeat and once more at terrible cost.
