Calculating, cruel, and theatrically self-assured - fond of staging public debates in which he lets the city’s nobles voice doubts about his rule, only to crush them with prepared rebuttals, like a hero scripted to win.
Biography
Anton de Bousherie was a known militant who left the fighting after a battlefield injury and rose to rule a city of the Holy Theocracy of Olympus on the promise that he would stamp out its gang wars. He kept that promise - but not for the people’s sake: the gangs were rivals to his power, and once he had destroyed the most prominent and driven the rest underground, he began an unchecked seizure of the city’s wealth. He dismissed judges, rewrote laws, and exiled opponents and disloyal clergy alike. Rumour named him the nephew of one of the three leaders of the conservative party of the Greek Empire - a faction grown popular on the horrors of the war - which is why the realm’s nobles never moved against him.
It was Bousherie who decreed ownership of every food-shop in the city, and who, when the baker Abranos dared resist, had him thrown into a dungeon on false charges. Seven years later he left the city to his successor Argent Camallia and moved, at his party’s bidding, to a more central city - to bring it to heel and seize new lands.
