The Areanites are a crime syndicate out of a southern city of the Holy Theocracy of Olympus, where - unlike gangs that grew up under a tyrant’s shadow - they were effectively the power behind the throne, with the money, manpower, and arms to mount a hostile takeover of a rival city. When the tyrant Anton de Bousherie left his seat to his successor Argent Camallia, the Areanites moved north to seize the opening, and went to war in the streets against the Hounds of Nemesis.

It was the Areanites who abducted Alena, the sister of the Hounds’ founder, leaving a message written in blood - “keep your distance and we will keep our hands” - to warn him off. Rumour holds that many of their leaders have since crossed to the New World to expand the syndicate beyond the Empire.
