The Hounds of Nemesis

The Hounds of Nemesis are a street gang founded in the slums of a city of the Holy Theocracy of Olympus by the young Tristis Praesidium, after he won a knife-duel against a gang chief in the Typhoon Inn and rallied the cowed remnants of the old gangs to his banner. He named them not out of true faith in the goddess Nemesis, but for the message her name carried: we do not give up; we are the vengeance.

Under Tristis they rebuilt their strength step by step - recruiting, levying protection money from local shops, smuggling drink and forbidden goods - keeping a low profile against the watchful agents of the tyrant Anton de Bousherie, and growing into a power the common folk both feared and quietly supported. When Tristis later vanished in search of dark power, he left them leaderless; soon after, the rival Areanites moved against them.
