Evanor is the son of Tignor Andviler and the late elven wizard Evandril. After his mother’s death, he lived with Tignor in a village near the swamp. The village stood close to a cave once inhabited by a powerful mage; lingering magic kept dangerous animals and monsters away, and adventurers had declared the cave clear years before, though the villagers still avoided it.
Evanor disappeared into that cave and was found breathing but unresponsive beside a strange altar, holding an oddly shaped stone. The village healer identified a curse but did not recognise it. A travelling mage later determined that the curse traps Evanor in a persistent coma and prevents his body from changing state. Its unusual nature would require unconventional means to cure.
The mage recommended a specialist in a distant capital. Tignor refused to risk carrying Evanor on the journey, leaving him with the village healer while taking the stone and setting out alone. The Faithful Companions now seek a magic item in Kios that might end Evanor’s curse.
