Edmund Fon Umerits was the first king of Clairnia, and - by a quirk of wounded royal pride - the founder of the College of Jesters.

Biography

When Edmund rose to power, he approached the various bard colleges seeking to requisition a royal bard for his court. One after another they refused him - some objecting to his rule, others to the very idea of being bound to a royal court. Rebuffed, Edmund took matters into his own hands, and within a year a new college was born under his patronage: the College of Jesters, devoted to entertaining the court through music, acrobatics, wit, and jest.
