Overview

Skyspeak is the clipped, whistling tongue of the bird-folk, set down in the coiling glyphs the air elementals share. It is built around mimicry and short, repeated motifs, and its Tengu and Kenku speakers often weave whole conversations out of borrowed phrases and remembered sounds. To an outsider it can read as nonsense; to a fluent speaker, every imitation carries intent.

Phonology & Script

Skyspeak is whistling and clipped, written in Auran - the coiling script of the air elementals. Its grammar of mimicry means that meaning often lives in which sound is borrowed and how it is repeated, rather than in fixed vocabulary.

Speakers

• Tengu - the proud birdfolk of the northern peaks.
• Kenku - who share the bird-folk’s gift for mimicry.
