Gob
Gob
Script Goblin Family Exotic Primary speakers Goblins, Hobgoblins, Bugbears
Overview
Spoken by goblins, hobgoblins, and bugbears, Gob is highly structured and relies heavily on honorific speech - which makes it easy for students of the language to make innocent mistakes in how they refer to themselves or their peers. A slip in Gob can mean a slip in rank, and outsiders are forgiven less often than they hope.
Phonology & Script
Gob’s defining feature is its rigid grammar of honorifics: every address encodes the relative rank of speaker and listener. Used correctly it is a precise instrument of hierarchy; used carelessly it can cost the speaker standing. It is written in the Goblin script.
Speakers
- Goblins, Hobgoblins, and Bugbears - the three goblinoid peoples among the Twisted Races.
