Overview

Often called the “Language of Giants,” Jötunn’s origins are rumoured to lie with the mythical frost giants who opposed the Norse gods. It is spoken by ogres, firbolgs, and goliaths, and is tailored to big lungs and mouths - which makes it difficult for smaller creatures to speak without sounding like they are whispering or mumbling.

Phonology & Script

Jötunn is built for size: its sounds demand the lungs and mouths of giant-kin, and small folk who attempt it tend to mumble. It is written in the angular Giant script.

Speakers

• Giants and Ogres - the tongue’s native, full-throated speakers.
• Goliaths - the mountain folk descended from giant-kin.
• Firbolgs - who carry it alongside Sylvan.
