The School of Scribes
The School of Scribes
Type School of learned magic Founder Janeeb Tradition Scribe magic
The School of Scribes is the ninth of the great schools of learned magic. It was founded by Janeeb, daughter of Mauran Magefather, and stands alongside the eight schools devoted to the traditional divisions of arcane practice.
Unlike those eight, the School of Scribes is defined not by one category of spell but by the preservation, transcription, and adaptation of magic. Its wizards treat spellbooks as living bodies of knowledge and prize methods that allow magic to survive the death of any single practitioner.
Namesake
The school takes its name from the arcane scribes who preserve, compare, and recast written magic rather than committing themselves to a single school of spells.
History
Janeeb founded the school as a ninth tradition beside the eight ordinary schools established around the recognized forms of arcane magic.
Goal
To preserve magical knowledge and ensure that spells, discoveries, and techniques can pass safely between generations.
Philosophy
Magic recorded but never reconsidered is merely an artifact. The School teaches that a spell remains alive only while new minds can read, test, and adapt it.
