Genasi

Genasi are the children of genies and mortals - individuals tied to two worlds, yet belonging fully to neither. Some are born of a direct mortal–genie union, others have two genasi parents, and a rare few carry a genie far up the family tree, an elemental heritage that lay dormant for generations before flaring back to life.

Personality

Varied and self-confident, genasi tend to follow the temper of their elemental heritage: those of air trend toward the chaotic and free, earth toward the steady and lawful, water toward the balanced and neutral, and fire toward extremes. Whatever their element, they carry the duality of their birth in everything they do - a mortal half that bleeds and a primordial half that burns, freezes, or endures.

Society

As one of the Half Bloods, genasi are regarded by the wider population with the same mixture of awe and fear as their tiefling and hochling cousins. Four elemental lineages are found across Thelemar - air, earth, fire, and water genasi - each marked by the plane its blood answers to, and each empowered rather than harmed by the element of its ancestry.

Culture

Language

Genasi speak Common and Primordial, the tongue of the elemental planes. Each lineage also speaks the dialect of its element - Auran for air, Terran for earth, Ignan for fire, and Aquan for water - the elemental sub-tongues of Primordial.

History

Origins

Genasi are counted among the Half Bloods - the offspring of magical creatures and mortals - said to trace back to the same age of planar intrusion that produced the tieflings and hochlings.
