The Dragon Pantheon
The gods of dragonkind are few and strange. People often find it odd that dragons - vast, majestic, awe-striking - should have gods at all; but scholars hold that dragons approach faith differently, regarding their gods less as creators to be prayed to than as respected kings or generals whose word is to be heeded.
History
Dragons have only three gods - far fewer than any mortal faith, yet one more than the bare minimum one might guess. These gods are also far lesser than the gods mortals pray to: Temeria is roughly the equal of the other eight rulers of Mictlān - mighty beyond any mortal or ordinary dragon, but a candle beside the gods of the three great pantheons or the One God.
Deities of the Pantheon
| Name | Description | Domain | Alignment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Temeria | Mother of Fear Dragons; an archfiend of Mictlān | Fear, avarice, domination | Evil |
| Fazen | The Paragon of Safety; ascended counterbalance to Temeria | Protection, security | Good |
| Lonwan | The Balance Keeper; perhaps a Loong | Balance, secrets, rain | Neutral |
Notable Beings Related to the Pantheon
In older and folk accounts (see Dragons), two other figures appear in place of Fazen and Lonwan: Xymor, the First Platinum, said to have been set as god of the metallic dragons, and Saridor, the Hidden Gem, an emerald dragon who hid dragonkind and sealed away the grace of the dead dragon-gods. These belong to the contested, pre-canonical mythology of dragons rather than to the established three.
Worship and Practices
Cults dedicated to venerating dragons as gods have sprung up across Thelemar, offering prayers and sacrifices in hope of favor. Chief among the faithful are the kobold tribes, who revere their draconic progenitors without ulterior motive - a devotion that, uniquely, grants some tribes great power as unconditional representatives of their dragon masters.
View of Other Religions
The dragon gods are lesser powers in the cosmic order, tolerated by the great pantheons and the One God only so long as their ambitions stay contained.
