Gazu-Shirak, the Black Death, is one of the Great Ascended Dragons - a wyrm of rot, blight, and decay who long ago laid himself down amid the drowned ruins of the city of Kios, deep in the Amasyan Swamp. He is said to command the dead, and to be served by the small carrion-things of the marsh, who carry word of all that passes to him. He was last sighted better than a century and a half ago, when he settled into the sunken city, and is reckoned dormant - though the dragon-hunters of the Bana Drakar, renewing their old war upon the greatest dragons, mean to find him.
