Ziz, the Sky

Ziz

Titles	The Sky
Pantheon	Feathered Pantheon
Role	The Sky itself
Divine Domain	Air, sky, freedom, flight
Element	Air

Ziz, the Sky, is the queen and most revered of all the gods of the Pantheon of the Sky - the embodiment of the sky itself.

Divine Domain

Ziz represents air, and the boundless expanse of freedom the Tengu cherish. Ziz is not a distant god but an omnipresent one - felt in every gust of wind, seen in every cloud - believed to watch over the Tengu constantly and to grant them the ultimate gift: the freedom to fly. Those who lead rescue missions to free enslaved kin are most often devoted to Ziz.

The Rising Phoenix

When the Merry Bunch climbed a northern peak seeking a deathless phoenix, they found Ziz waiting at the summit. Speaking in a harmony of a thousand voices, she declared that the first step of a prophecy had been fulfilled and named Aldor Thaned the Rising Phoenix. She foretold that he must travel through, across, and under; drink fire and eat stone; embrace pain and face the dream alone. Only then would he unleash what was within him, gain all he wished for, and lose all that mattered.

Aldor interpreted the prophecy as a warning that fulfilling it would cost Tikal’s life and has tried to flee it ever since.
