Mitsik

The Mitsik are feline, magical creatures - the first creation of the goddess KITTY, made of her own essence. Their near-extinction is the founding tragedy of the Tabaxi, whose most sacred charge is to protect the few that remain.

Description

Slick and gentle, the Mitsik are easily distinguished by a feathery-like coloring that frames their faces on both sides and by a double-edged tail. Their fur is slick and dark - ranging through dark green, red, blue, and black - and their eyes glow softly in shades of blue. Their most unique feature, however, is the magical force coursing through their bodies: a glowing blue orb that roams seemingly at random beneath the skin, shining out through the fur.

Abilities

The Mitsik’s true powers are now the stuff of myth, for no reliable record survived their slaughter. Some texts claim they could travel between dimensions; others credit them with incredible enchantment; still others with shadow-travel, the fabled ability to pass through shadows as a kind of teleportation. With the old texts lost or destroyed, no one can say what was real and what was invention.

History

KITTY originally created only 500 Mitsiks, hoping to watch them prosper. She did not foresee the cruelty of the Children, who raced one another for the honor of being a Mitsik hunter - for they believed the glowing orb could be harvested. The unique race was driven to the brink of extinction, and it was this that moved KITTY to create the Tabaxi to protect the survivors. Though the world (and most Tabaxi) believe the Mitsiks extinct, a precious few endure, known only to the chosen Tabaxi who serve as their protectors and clan leaders.
