Tezcatlipoca, the Sequestered, is a god of the Nahatul - a deity of the night, of darkness and the cold wind, and above all of the smoking mirror of black obsidian, in which all things, present and hidden, may be glimpsed. He was one of the great beings the gods cast down when they rose to power, and so he is named the Sequestered: set apart, bound away, no longer free to walk the world as the younger gods do.

What His Servant Knows

To his rare faithful he speaks not openly but through obsidian and smoke - a darkened mirror, a still black pool - and always cryptically, in riddles and half-said things, forever wary of who else might be listening. “There are ears everywhere,” he warns. He offers knowledge to those who will carry it, and a measure of his power to those bound to him; what he asks in return, each of his servants comes to learn alone.

He is the patron of the wandering tabaxi swordmage Mon.
