The Priestesses of the Virgin Moon are an order of priestesses who worship Artemis, taking vows of celibacy at a young age. They keep temples beside the wild places, tending the wildlife there through the last three weeks of each month. During the week of the hunt they furnish weapons and guidance to hunters who would earn Artemis’s blessing.

They are considered an offshoot of the central worship of Artemis, yet are usually present in all her chief temples, whether by a representative of their own or by affiliation.
